What is Stugeron® (cinnarizine) used for?

Stugeron® is commonly used for control travel sickness. Also, it is used to treat symptoms with balance problems, such as dizzy or lightheaded, ringing in the ears, and feeling sick (nausea) and being sick (vomiting).

How should I take Stugeron® (cinnarizine)?

Should be taken with food. Preferably taken after meals.

How do I store Stugeron® (cinnarizine)?

Stugeron® is best stored at room temperature away from direct light and moisture. To prevent drug damage, you should not store Stugeron® in the bathroom or the freezer. There may be different brands of Stugeron® that may have different storage needs. It is important to always check the product package for instructions on storage, or ask your pharmacist. For safety, you should keep all medicines away from children and pets.

Side effects

What side effects can occur from Stugeron® (cinnarizine)?

Some common side effects may occur when using this drug:

• Drowsiness
• Feeling sick
• Indigestion
• Weight gain

Other side effects include:

• Unusual movements, such as trembling and shacking of the hands and fingers, twisting movements of the body, shuffling walk and muscle stiffness
• Yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes (jaundice)
• Allergic reactions
• Headache
• Dry mouth

Dosage

What is the dose of Stugeron® (cinnarizine) for an adult?

Cerebral circulation disorder 

The recommended dose is 1 tab tid or 1 forte cap daily.

Peripheral circulation disorders 

The recommended dose is 2-3 tab tid or 2-3 forte cap daily.

Vestibular disturbances 

The recommended dose is 1 tab tid or 1 forte cap daily.

Motion sickness

The recommended dose is 1 tab ½ hour before traveling. To be repeated 6 hourly.

Vertigo 

Dose-dependent, increased progressively.

Max dosage should not exceed 225 mg (9 tab or 3 cap) daily.

What is the dose of Stugeron® (cinnarizine) for a child?

The recommended dose is ½ adult dose.

How is Stugeron® (cinnarizine) available?

Stugeron® is available in the following dosage forms and strengths:

• Stugeron® Forte cap 75 mg
• Stugeron® tab 25 mg

What should I do in case of an emergency or overdose?

In case of an emergency or an overdose, call your local emergency services or go to your nearest emergency room.

What should I do if I miss a dose?

If you miss a dose of Stugeron®, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your regular dose as scheduled. Do not take a double dose.
