Aldex® AN is commonly used for temporarily relieve runny nose, sneezing, itching of nose and throat, itchy, watery eyes due to hay fever or other upper respiratory allergies.

What is the dose of Aldex® AN (doxylamine succinate) for an adult?

The recommended dose Aldex® AN for adults is 2 tablets taken every 4-6 hours. Do not take more than 6 doses in 24 hours or as directed by a doctor.

What is the dose of Aldex® AN (doxylamine succinate) for a child?

The recommended dose Aldex® AN for children 6 to under 12 years of age is 1 tablets taken every 4-6 hours. Do not take more than 6 doses in 24 hours or as directed by a doctor.

Directions

How should I take Aldex® AN (doxylamine succinate)?

Take this medicine with food or milk if it upsets your stomach. Chew thoroughly before swallowing.
Use Aldex^®AN everyday, until your doctor advises you to stop. Do not take more than the recommended dose. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Do not stop taking Aldex^®AN or reduce the dose of Aldex®AN without talking to your doctor first.
Use exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended. This medicine is usually taken only for a short time until your symptoms clear up.

What should I do in case of an emergency or overdose?

In case of an emergency or an overdose, call your local emergency services or go to your nearest emergency room.

What should I do if I miss a dose?

If you miss a dose of Aldex^®AN, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your regular dose as scheduled. Do not take a double dose.

Side effects

What side effects can occur from Aldex® AN (doxylamine succinate)?

Taking Aldex®AN can cause some side effects, such as:

Signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Confusion;
Hallucinations;
Severe dizziness or drowsiness;
Little or no urinating;
Blurred vision;
Dry mouth, nose, or throat;
Constipation;
Mild dizziness or drowsiness.

Breastfeeding

Aldex® AN may pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby. Antihistamines may also slow breast milk production. Do not use this medicine without a doctor’s advice if you are breastfeeding a baby.

How do I store Aldex® AN (doxylamine succinate)?

Aldex® AN is best stored at room temperature away from direct light and moisture. To prevent drug damage, you should not store Aldex® AN in the bathroom or the freezer.
