Komix® is a cough suppressant, commonly used for treating cough. It will not treat a cough caused by smoking, asthma, or emphysema.

What is the dose of Komix® (Dextromethorphan HBr Syrup) for an adult?

Consult your doctor for information about the dose of Komix® hydrochloride is 10 to 30 mg orally every 4 to 8 hours.

What is the dose of Komix® (Dextromethorphan HBr Syrup) for a child?

Consult your doctor for information about the dose of Komix® hydrochloride. Recommended doses in some cases are listed below:

• For children from 1 to 3 months:0.5 to 1 mg orally every 6 to 8 hours.
• For children from 4 to 6 months: 1 to 2 mg orally every 6 to 8 hours
• For children from 7 months to 1 year: 2 to 4 mg orally every 6 to 8 hours.
• For children from 2 to 6 years: 5 mg/5 mL oral liquid: 5 mL orally every 4 hours. Maximum dose is 30 mg/day.
• For children from 7 to 12 years: 5 mg/5 mL oral liquid: 10 mL orally every 4 hours. Maximum dose is 60 mg/day.
• For children from 12 years or older: 10 to 30 mg orally every 4 to 8 hours.
  Maximum dose: 120 mg/day.

How is Komix® (Dextromethorphan HBr Syrup) available?

Komix® is available in the following dosage forms and strengths: 7.5 mg/0.8 ml; 7.5 mg/5 ml; 10 mg/5 ml; 15 mg/5 ml; 15 mg ; 5 mg ; 7.5 mg ; 12.5 mg/5 ml; 30 mg/5 ml; 2.5 mg.

What should I do in case of an emergency or overdose?

In case of an emergency or an overdose, call your local emergency services (115) or go to your nearest emergency room.

What should I do if I miss a dose?

If you miss a dose of Komix®, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your regular dose as scheduled. Do not take a double dose.
