What is Vastarel® (Trimetazidine) used for?

Vastarel® is commonly used in adults as an add-on therapy for the symptomatic treatment of patients, for those who has stable angina pectoris and are inadequately controlled by or intolerant to first-line antianginal therapies.

How should I take Vastarel® (Trimetazidine)?

For orally taken form, you should:

Take Vastarel® by mouth as directed by your doctor concerning: dose, schedule.
Read the label carefully before using Vastarel®.
Consult your doctor for any information on the label that you do not clearly understand.
Tablets should be taken with a glass of water at mealtimes.

How do I store Vastarel® (Trimetazidine)?

Vastarel® is best stored at room temperature away from direct light and moisture. To prevent drug damage, you should not store Vastarel® in the bathroom or the freezer. Is it safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

During pregnancy: it is preferable not to take this medicine during pregnancy. If you discover that you are pregnant whilst taking this medicine, consult your doctor as he alone can judge the necessity of continuing your treatment.

During breastfeeding: in the absence of data on excretion in breast milk, breastfeeding is not recommended during treatment.

Side effects

What side effects can occur from Vastarel® (Trimetazidine)?

What is the dose of Vastarel® (Trimetazidine) for an adult?

Recommended dose in some cases is one tablet of 20mg taken three times a day during meals.

Vastarel® is not recommended in children aged below 18 years.

Film-coated tablet 35 mg, Film-coated tablet 20 mg.

What should I do in case of an emergency or overdose?

In case of an emergency or an overdose, call your local emergency services (115) or go to your nearest emergency room.

What should I do if I miss a dose?

If you miss a dose of Vastarel®, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your regular dose as scheduled. Do not take a double dose.
